Making Children Feel Special
During our interviews, special attention was paid to what teachers chose to display in their classrooms. One thing we noticed was that the childrens' work was everywhere! By inundating the classroom with pictures of the children, their artwork, their writing, and their creations, the teacher shows how much they care for the students. In turn, the students feel valued and that their work is meaningful. Attention to the unique characteristics of the classroom community makes the children feel comfortable and at home in their space. This also can show progress and achievements to parents and visitors to the classroom.
