Home Connection
One teacher in particular emphasized the importance of providing the students' parents a daily connection with their learning. In areas where students' families may be at a loss for educational resources in the home, teachers can provide the families with books and materials to "check-out" from the classroom. One teacher suggested making this connection by sending home a different book each night. In another classroom, the teacher made home connections by having the students contribute important family dates into the classroom calendar. This provided the students with motivation to write and learn more about using the calendar system.
